Going Green

Remi keeps it clean and green at headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

Recycling

Remi prides itself on selecting services and products from vendors that practice recycling whenever possible. At the company headquarters, paper, plastic, glass products, and printer cartridges are recycled regularly. The IT Department donates all out-of-date equipment to local North Carolina schools and nonprofit organizations for refurbishing. Our office also received a "Treesaver Environmental Certificate" from PROSHRED for our participation in their shredding and recycling system. Seven mature trees were saved from destruction in 2011. Today, Remi uses Automated Shredding Inc., an on-site secure document shredding service that is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating.

Remi GreEnergy

A group of eight Remi employees volunteered to start the company's first green committee and call themselves Remi GreEnergy. Their mission is to bring better environmentally friendly practices within the office, as well as tips for employees to use at home. Remi GreEnergy is led by Kristen Childers, Committee Chair, and the group has already successfully held a "Lights Out" day and Farmer's Market at the office. Check out the press release, Going Green with Remi GreEnergy.

TerraPass

Remi is proud to exhibit the TerraPass badge on the website. As part of the company's green initiative, 10 metric tons of carbon offsets were purchased via TerraPass as a means of reducing emissions through renewable energy credits. The carbon offsets purchased have been put toward the reduction of greenhouse gases through renewable energy and methane capture projects in communities across the country.

LEED Gold

Remi's office building, located in Ballantyne Corporate Park's Irby Building in Charlotte, NC, features green elements, including special roofing and solar powered water heaters. Almost 75% of the construction waste was recycled and diverted from landfills and 30% of the materials used for the building's construction were recycled. As a result, the Irby Building was awarded the first LEED Gold Certification in Ballantyne.
